Bière de garde is one of the only beer styles to originate in France, and carries it's history within the bellies of the farmhands who made and drank the stuff. Literally "beer for keeping", it was originally brewed during colder months and consumed in the summer, when the unpredictability of yeast in heat makes brewing a real pain in the ass. Jenlain is perhaps the best known commercial rendition of this historic style, and is made available all year round. With aromas of straw and apples, it carries a combination of pepper and caramel flavours alongside a piquant alcohol bite.
