Allagash Black

Style: Foreign Stout
Every once in a while, even the most ardent drinkers of Belgian-style beers can get a little exhausted by the fruit, flowers and spice that are the inevitable product of yeasts native to the region. Then, like new underpants on an old flame, along comes a style that seduces all over again. Belgian stouts are just those kinds of underpants, and Allagash is one of the few American breweries attempting the style. Lightly structured considering its alcohol content, the taste includes notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and fruit.
